Speed Goats

In Gillette you'll find two things in great abundance: Coal and pronghorn antelopes.

They're also known as the fastest land mammal in North America.

Now that my dad lives out in the country, these things are as common around his house as backyard songbirds are in Wichita. Or at least it seems.

Unlike deer, they're pretty good at not jumping out in front of vehicles moving at high speed down a highway.

Today my brother referred to them as speed goats. Though they're not a goat species, the name is fitting. Can't believe I'd never heard them called that until today.
