The tile floor is finished! As you can see... it was a much needed upgrade. Everytime I tried to clean the old one, I always had this to say: "!*@#%!&$..."
I appreciate all the lively debate on what to do with the cabinets. Here at 531 Pamela Street, it's a debate that's still raging. Did I mention I found two hollow point handgun bullets buried beneath the old flooring?
Anyway... the floor is done and I'm moving on to the walls. The hard part is over. You can get a better look at the awful cabinets I'm talking about in this photo. Feel free to weigh in some more. I might just host a new kitchen reveal party if I get my way.

Bro that is so awesome I am felling inspired. I will let you know when you can come to Montana with your tools. I might have to get a computer a dig camera & start a blog too.
let me know when the party is
Travis Heying, Renaissance man! Seriously, I've always been impressed by your many skills. You even taught me how to roast a pig underground. Hey, there's another blog idea for you this summer ...
You should be proud of yourself. That looks amazing. After seeing this photo, I really don't think you can leave the cabinets as they are now. Just not sure what to do with them.
I'm with Lori. The cabinets need a coat. But the floor looks very good. What do you charge to do kitchen floors?
Floor looks nice, If you're not going to replace the cabinets, then I'd go with some paint....color? I just repainted my bedroom and bathroom, it can make a huge difference! Good luck!
I'm siding with Teresa here. Don't paint. Change the hardware and see if that makes them easier for you to tolerate.
Question Does any of this help you make up your mind ?
yes craig. Teresa is gettin' mad though. She's not liking the overwhelming votes towards painting the cabinets one bit.
Maybe your best friend Ty from most extreme makeovers home edition can give you some advice. Or not...
I think you should repaint the cabinets and put the old floor back in.
The floors look great. But I'm going to have to side with Mrs. VZ just for moral support!
Travy,
I vote change the hardware for now. Wait about two years if you have the time. In the meantime sit down and discuss with your wife what the two of you really want in a kitchen then do a complete remodel with all the nice cool neat stuff that's out there. For starters I'd get rid of that overhead cabinetry that obstucts the view into the dinning area and replace with hanging wine glass storage or pot rack, and get some counter tops to better match the floor. Perhaps open it up with a nice island you can walk around either side eventually. Then add some nice stainless steel appliances, sure would go nice with that floor.
Travis, that looks like a ton of work. Very well done.
